Job Description Summary

The Turbine System Integrator will be responsible for the technical execution of turbine design for the hydroelectric industry. The professional will coordinate between the engineering disciplines working on the turbine design and its associated systems. They will be the primary communication link between the engineering design teams, the project execution team, and the project office.

Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline focused on integrating business and technical needs to deliver a quality product that meets user requirements. It involves identifying and quantifying system requirements, creating design concepts, performing trade studies, selecting and implementing the best designs, and verifying proper integration and execution from concept to production to operation.

The job may involve departmental operations planning/execution or execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results. The role may modify procedures and practices as long as end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness, etc.).

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
  • Be the technical interface between the design engineering team and the Engineering Project Manager.
  • Analyze and coordinate the technical contract requirements with the customer and product design team.
  • Plan and manage coordination meetings with the design engineers assigned to the turbine product.
  • Manage engineering schedule and align technical decisions to ensure compliance with delivery deadlines, quality, and cost.
  • Coordinate collection of technical feedback from projects and related mitigation plans with support from design engineers.
  • Manage the project budget, related margin movement, and technical opportunities for the design engineering team associated with the turbine product.
  • Support site teams during installation and commissioning of hydro turbine units.
  • Provide work packages to each design engineering discipline for the project, including client requirements, interfaces, planning, performance, reliability, and budget.
  • Manage the technical documentation related to the turbine product.
  • Serve as the technical single point of contact to the customer for the turbine product, including defining interfaces and resolving technical roadblocks (managing clarifications and customer comments).
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in the hydro industry.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design.
  • Relevant experience in engineering project management.
  • Experience in customer relationship management.
  • Fluent in English and Portuguese; French is a plus.
  • Ability to travel occasionally within Brazil or North America.
Preferred Qualifications / Characteristics
  • Member of an applicable professional engineering association in the place of residence.
  • PM certification is a plus.
  • Leadership, proactiveness, sense of urgency, autonomy; ability to interact with functions.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; strong communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a multicultural and global environment.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
