Senior Maintenance Engineer – Rotating Equipment

As a Senior Maintenance Engineer, you will collaborate closely with the client’s Maintenance Engineering, Planning, and Offshore Operations teams, as well as Shape’s remote specialists, to implement and optimize data-driven maintenance strategies for critical rotating equipment in the Oil & Gas sector. Your role will focus on condition monitoring, technical data analysis, and providing actionable recommendations to enhance equipment reliability, availability, and operational performance.

We are looking for a technically skilled professional with strong experience in predictive maintenance and rotating machinery diagnostics, capable of working across multidisciplinary teams to support continuous improvement.

• Analyze inspection and test data, focusing on vibration analysis (including spectra) and lubricant analysis to detect early signs of equipment failure.
• Diagnose equipment condition and recommend corrective and predictive maintenance actions.
• Create work notifications and service orders (WO/Notification) in CMMS to ensure accurate execution of maintenance activities.
• Evaluate intervention effectiveness by analyzing results and calculating avoided costs.
• Develop technical reports and performance indicators related to equipment and maintenance strategy.
• Maintain and update technical case studies in Shape Lighthouse, ensuring traceability and knowledge retention.
• Collaborate with offshore teams, client engineering and planning, and Shape’s remote specialists.
• Support continuous development and enhancement of predictive maintenance strategies.
• Ensure operational integrity, safety, and compliance with industry standards.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related fields.
• Proven experience in predictive maintenance, reliability, and diagnostics of rotating equipment (compressors, pumps, turbomachinery, etc.).
• Advanced skills in vibration analysis, spectra interpretation, and condition monitoring data.
• Knowledge of lubricant analysis and interpretation of physicochemical and particulate parameters.
• Familiarity with maintenance management systems such as SAP PM, Maximo, or equivalents.
• Experience with asset monitoring systems like OSIsoft PI, SCADA, or similar.
• Understanding of predictive, prescriptive, and condition-based maintenance strategies.
• Desirable certifications in vibration analysis (ISO CAT II or higher) and lubricant analysis.
• To be available to work at our office, in Rio de Janeiro.

• Previous experience in offshore environments (FPSOs, platforms, refineries, etc.).
• Knowledge of industry standards such as API, ISO, NR-13.
• Experience with failure analysis methodologies (FMEA, RCA, RCM).
• Intermediate to advanced technical English.
