Job Description

Pyyne is seeking a WordPress Developer with strong PHP skills and a deep understanding of the WordPress engine to work with a large US-based client out of our Brazilian office. The successful candidate will help us migrate and modernize the client’s public-facing site. This role goes beyond admin work — you'll be the go-to technical expert for how content is structured and delivered, and you'll collaborate closely with agency partners during our theme migration.

What You’ll Do
  • Migrate our legacy WordPress site to a modern Gutenberg block-based experience using a custom theme
  • Serve as the technical lead on backend WordPress matters — helping guide decisions and troubleshoot issues during the migration
  • Support, manage, and secure the production WordPress environment
  • Build and deploy new sections and improve performance via caching and backend optimization
  • Implement and configure editor-friendly plugins — no plugin development or WooCommerce
  • Integrate Zendesk Live Chat and build tools to extract support data
  • Set up MixPanel event tracking and instrument Gravity Forms appropriately
What You Bring
  • Fluent English, written and spoken
  • Strong backend development experience with WordPress and PHP — you understand the core engine, content workflows, and template architecture
  • Ability to answer detailed technical questions from agency partners during the migration process
  • Experience optimizing WordPress performance and security
  • Familiarity with third-party integrations (e.g., Zendesk, Gravity Forms) and event tracking tools (e.g., MixPanel)
  • Comfortable managing day-to-day updates and keeping progress moving independently
