Technical Lead for AI Employee Backend

Staff Software Engineer About Our Team We are building real AI teammates, not copilots or assistants. Our AI employees work alongside human team members to find and research leads, write emails, run outbound sequences, self-optimize, and manage email deliverability infrastructure. A typical day for a Staff Software Engineer involves designing, building, and scaling the backend that powers our AI employees, following our principles: Velocity is key: keep the 20/80 rule in mind and delay kills growth. Think like a founder: ship with quality, have strong opinions, and speak up if you disagree. Operate efficiently: put the customer first, write it down, and use AI wherever possible. Communication matters: be clear and concise, give candid feedback. Meetings should be useful: don't attend meetings where you don't add value. Vibes matter: have a positive attitude and make others feel appreciated. What You Bring 6+ years of backend engineering experience in high-growth environments. Strong experience building scalable data-intensive services with modern APIs and robust infrastructure. Proficiency with AWS and GitHub Actions. Deep understanding of distributed systems, APIs, reliability, performance, and database systems (SQL + NoSQL). Experience with modern stacks - TypeScript/Node preferred, but equivalent backend stacks welcome. Demonstrated track record of ownership - leading parts of systems independently and shipping with impact. Excellent communication and clarity in articulating architecture to stakeholders.
