Risk Engineer Senior Consultant

Our Hanover's Specialty Industrial Property Risk Engineering team is seeking a Risk Engineering Senior Consultant in the Chicago area. This is a full-time, exempt role based out of your home office.

POSITION OVERVIEW: Operates semi-autonomously regarding core competencies including day-to-day risk engineering and insured support activities within a commensurate level of experience. Conducts property risk engineering field inspections of existing and limited prospective policyholders, consulting with customers regarding solutions to identified property risk engineering exposures and deficiencies. Demonstrates a broad knowledge and expertise across the Risk Engineering spectrum. Occasionally provides guidance to lesser experienced field consultants.

• Perform risk engineering site inspections of existing and limited prospective policyholders with all levels of complexity.
• Generate technical property risk engineering reports designed to identify exposures and recommend controls to minimize potential losses.
• Collaborate with Risk Analysts to assist insureds in solving property risk engineering deficiencies.
• Partner with the Technical/Project Specialist on projects to develop technical knowledge of processes and controls at insured locations.
• Mentor less experienced Risk Engineering Field Consultants to build skills in report generation and auditing/managing increasingly complex accounts.
• Coordinate with internal and external resources on risks of all levels of complexity.
• Provide input and contribute to various risk engineering projects in addition to field inspections.
• Regularly work with junior consultants to support their development.

• Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline preferred.
• 8+ years of technical and/or engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of NFPA Codes and Standards or equivalent (Factory Mutual Guidelines).
• Good command of fundamental and advanced technical concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain difficult or technical decisions clearly.
• Proven proficiency across HSIP Risk Engineering core competencies.
