Overview

Associate Industrial Designer role at Whirlpool Corporation — entry-level position within the Product Design team focused on creating innovative, customer-centered product solutions that support and enhance the brand.

The Product Design team designs, validates and brings new products to market; designs, tests and integrates components to produce final designs; and evaluates the design\'s overall effectiveness, cost, reliability and safety. The role collaborates with internal partners to optimize designs for manufacturability and uses CAD/CAE systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.

This opportunity is best suited to an entry level, creative-thinking industrial designer with experience in a Product Development environment who can design solutions with genuine customer value while aligning with Whirlpool\'s brands. You will be the voice for the customer, providing a continuous stream of innovative, useful, and beautiful products that support and enhance the competitiveness of the brand.

• Participate in defining and endorsing cross-category project parameters
• Ensure a variety of conceptual design alternatives are presented to satisfy user needs
• Create aspects of form, aesthetics, and interfaces between users and products
• Generate appropriate documentation to satisfy project criteria within the Whirlpool process
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver the complete design package
• Help create and ensure the implementation of the Visual Brand Language within projects
• Generate images and renderings to communicate the design intent across the company
• Create the Color, Material and Finish documentation according to CMF guidelines
• Follow up on design-to-value initiatives to ensure product quality and competitiveness during the life cycle
• Create, submit and follow up prototype builds with the model shop team
• Ability to create strong storytelling presentations

• Bachelor\'s degree in Industrial Design from an accredited school
• 1-3 years of design experience in a corporate or consultant environment
• 3D computer modeling skills (Solidworks, CREO or Rhino 3D)
• Strong project management and planning skills
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to facilitate communication across different disciplines (advanced English is a must)
• Strong decision-making abilities and self-motivation
• Adaptability and flexibility to change as designs and processes improve over time
• Strong 2D digital and analog visualization skills (Photoshop, Illustrator and similar)
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes, especially with metal and plastic parts
• Good understanding of electronics, light-guided interfaces and behavior specs
• Good understanding of AI tools, such as Midjourney, Gemini and Stable Diffusion

This position is located in Joinville, Santa Catarina, Brazil, at the city\'s largest industrial hub. The factory produces refrigerators, freezers, dryers, water purifiers and B.Blend machines. It is also the base for Whirlpool\'s global product research and development in Brazil for refrigeration, air conditioning, water purifiers, cooking and electronics.
