THE OPPORTUNITY

We are hiring a Staff Backend Software Engineer to our Integrations team in Brazil This is a Remote – Brazil position, meaning you can work from anywhere within the country. Please note that this role is only open to candidates in Brazil.

As a Staff Engineer, you will architect and build the integration layer for Wellhub and gym management systems globally. You will collaborate with the team\'s Tech Lead and Product Manager to assess task feasibility, plan user story assignments, and prioritize technical work and debt. You are expected to apply a sharp strategic mindset by questioning feature scope and timing, balancing delivery complexity against opportunity cost, and fostering a culture of innovation on your team.

YOUR IMPACT

• Contribute to the development of some of the most critical and challenging services in our ecosystem, building long-term and sustainable solutions
• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve services with focus on performance, scalability, and resilience
• Develop parts of the system (often in pair programming), with expected involvement around 50%
• Ensure systems reliability, scalability, SLA and SLO adherence
• Support existing systems to enhance functionality, increase scale, and adapt to product demands
• Collaborate in an agile environment that prioritizes people over process and productivity
• Participate in incident resolution and production troubleshooting
• Maintain the project technical vision and keep it up to date for the team
• Work with cutting-edge technologies and address edge cases on a global scale
• Live the mission by prioritizing wellbeing and creating a supportive environment for colleagues

WHO YOU ARE

• Experience architecting large-scale multi-tier web applications
• Experience designing and developing complex modern web applications with cloud-based architectures (AWS / GCP)
• Experience developing RESTful web services in collaboration with front-end teams, defining payloads and following HTTP best practices
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, problem-solving, and complexity analysis
• Experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers (RabbitMQ, Kafka, ActiveMQ, etc.) and understanding their use cases and pitfalls
• Familiarity with DDD, SOLID, design patterns, distributed systems, and microservice pitfalls
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB) and understanding performance considerations
• Mentoring and people leadership experience (one-on-ones, coaching, growth planning)
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Java, Ruby, Go, C++, etc.); Kotlin is a plus
• Strong communication skills to work with multidisciplinary teams across countries and cultures; fluent English

The following would be considered a plus:

• Experience with Firebase ecosystem (Custom events, remote configs, Crashlytics)
• Experience with component-driven libraries/frameworks and Hybrid Native approaches
• Experience with Design System and common UX patterns
• Experience with TypeScript/ReactJS/React Native ecosystem
