Economic Consultant

Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for an Economic Consultant with Port / Maritime experience to join our commercial advisory team and be based in our São Paulo office. This role will be highly visible within the company and will make a strong impact on our organization. You will be accountable for delivering engagements within Brazil in accordance with or exceeding client expectations of speed, cost, and quality. Additionally, you will support the wider commercial advisory group with the delivery of projects to its worldwide client base. You will work closely with the business development team and be highly involved in the growth of the Company in Brazil.As an integral part of the team, the Consultant will be involved in all aspects of client project work - from data analysis to reporting to client presentations. Close coordination with all other team members is needed to deliver high quality products in short timelines. In this position, you will be challenged on an assortment of projects and providing you depth and breadth of knowledge and experience.Moffatt & Nichol is an independent global infrastructure advisory firm of 900+ employees in 40+ offices and 9 countries. We serve all stakeholders involved in ports and marine terminals, shipping, intermodal and hinterland markets and the offshore wind industry, in addition to the company’s core engineering practices. The commercial advisory group undertakes a wide range of market studies, competitive and strategic analyses, benefit-cost analyses, operational studies, mergers and acquisitions transaction support, and due diligence projects. Our clients include port and terminal operators, financial institutions such as infrastructure and pension funds, investment banks, private lending institutions, and government entities such as Port Authorities.This position will report to a Senior Consultant and will involve working with the commercial team in Europe and the Americas as well as the wider Moffatt & Nichol engineering group.**Duties and responsibilities**:- Work closely with the business development team to bring in profitable business for the Company in Brazil- Raise the profile of the commercial advisory group in the country by growing and maintaining professional customer relations- The ability to source client leads covering a wide network of contacts- Manage a pipeline of projects and leads- A focus on quality deliverables, customer satisfaction and maintaining and enhancing the group’s quality standards accreditation- Experienced, confident and innovative in structuring and presenting analysis to clients- The drive to continuously improve the group’s offering as well as development of potential new and expanded business lines- Mentoring and development of junior team members- Ability to multi-task and perform well under pressure and multiple deadlines- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours (across multiple time zones) and to travel when required**Other duties**:Please note this job posting is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.**Qualifications**:- Bachelor’s degree; required- 5-10 years of relevant experience in an advisory/consultancy role in the port / maritime industry; required- Experience working in a high-energy, deliverable-oriented environment with the ability to multi-task- Strong analytical and communication skills- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc)- Good verbal and written communication skills- Professional fluency in English required, other foreign language skills are an advantage- All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171**Physical requirements**:Work is generally performed in an office or client office setting. Ability to use standard office equipment is required.
