Join to apply for the Senior Software Engineer - M365 role at Microsoft . We are hiring multiple Senior Software Engineers to join the Microsoft 365 team. These are remote positions, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home. The Microsoft 365 team is building and operating the largest enterprise cloud productivity system in the world, powering products such as Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Office apps. We maintain high reliability, strong privacy, and millisecond‑level latency, while applying API design, machine learning, distributed computing, and algorithm optimization to deliver high‑scale, low‑latency services. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will drive technical detail, design and implement high‑scale distributed services, mentor junior engineers, and influence common development patterns across teams. Responsibilities Drive projects through to delivery, removing obstacles to ensure success. Contribute to the design of large‑scale distributed software services and solutions. Write clean, well‑tested code. Champion and improve team software engineering practices. Mentor junior engineers. Collaborate with related teams to achieve goals. Promote knowledge sharing and contribute to onboarding documentation. Participate in the on‑call rotation to monitor service health and manage incidents. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering OR equivalent experience. At least 5 years of experience in software design and backend service development. 5+ years of hands‑on experience in an object‑oriented language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, or equivalent experience with C. Strong partnership and influence skills, along with motivation and the ability to collaborate across teams. Proficiency in English is essential for effective communication. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering. Ability to communicate technical details clearly. Experience in DevOps for live services or application frameworks. Cloud services experience; Azure experience is highly desirable. Strong analytical skills and a structured approach to software design. Passion for building reliable, well‑tested services. Experience with Agile and iterative development processes.
