Our professional services span software engineering, DevOps, applications, UX, product management, and project management. Metal Toad is a fully remote company. For this opportunity, the selected candidate must be available Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time (PST). Although we operate remotely, we are currently seeking contractors residing in Brazil for this position. Compensation will be paid in Brazilian Reais (R$) in accordance with local currency. Job Description The Data Engineer at Metal Toad works with a team to create enterprise‑grade applications. You will also help educate clients on machine‑learning life cycle best practices and MLOps. Responsibilities Planning Adapt to a dynamic, collaborative work environment, make decisions, and communicate effectively. Review and confirm data requirements for projects, including any risks associated with data quality. Provide estimates with the team based on requirements, data, and architecture diagrams. Development Own project success by proactively communicating risks, known issues, and changelogs. Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle. Work as part of a team. Write code following best practices. Appreciate well‑tested code. Perform peer code reviews. Deliver projects free of major defects. Maintain a positive and respectful tone in all interactions. Expertise Research new libraries, techniques, and ideas. Review new developments in machine‑learning technology and Amazon services. Publish blog posts showcasing technical expertise. Enhance the organization’s reputation by taking ownership of new requests and exploring opportunities to add value. Qualifications Required Agree with our Corporate Values Statement. Experience with or knowledge of the following technologies: Development using Python or a similar object‑oriented language. JSON usage. Package managers such as npm or pip. Git for source control. Jupyter Notebooks. Data transformation and query languages. Nice to have AWS services and serverless patterns. AWS Certifications. Common data structures and algorithms.
