This Proposal Opportunity: Palladium is seeking a Driver/Office Assistant to help a confidential client implement a fund aimed at catalysing positive social, economic and environmental impact at a regional level in Anosy, Madagascar. The Driver/Office Assistant will work closely with the Project Team to provide secure transportation for Project staff in and outside of Fort Dauphin in the Anosy to facilitate project activities, and with authorization from the Finance and Administration Manager. He will also assist in some basic administrative tasks set by the Finance and Administration Manager.
Specific responsibilities of the Driver/Office Assistant include, but are not limited to:
- Drive responsibly at all times during the period working with the project.
- Ensure that the vehicle use is in accordance with the Palladium policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs and ensures that vehicle is kept in good running condition.
- Ensure vehicle documents, title and registration, insurance and any other documentation as required by local law are correct and up to date.
- Record all vehicle movement and purchases of fuel and lubricants accurately in the vehicle logbook.
- Ensure that there is adequate fuel and supplies, including First Aid supplies, in the vehicle at all times.
- Collect vehicle mileage for all project vehicles at the end of each month for the Finance & Administration Manager to track.
- Monitor the need for servicing of, and repairs to the vehicle and report any maintenance or mechanical issues to the Finance & Administration Manager.
- Ensure that the vehicle is properly maintained using local service providers identified in compliance with project guidelines and approvals.
- Avoid fines for improper parking or for other motoring offenses.
- Keep driving license current and unblemished.
- Provide airport transfers for project expatriate staff and consultants.
- Provide transfers to and from project sites for project staff and consultants, and for local staff traveling on project business.
- Transport project staff to appointments and meetings, with particular attention to following safe driving habits and timelines.
- Transport documents, supplies or materials between project offices or work sites as requested by project staff.
- Assist in handling other common office tasks including organizing files, handling mail/delivery of packages and other documents when required.
- Printing and making copies of documents when needed by the project staff.
- Assist in preparation and organizing in-house meeting/events by setting up basic amenities with attention to detail.
- Assist in office maintenance by monitoring maintenance staff.
- Notify the Finance & Administration Manager of decreasing stock of office maintenance supplies.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Finance & Administration Manager.
Position Requirements
- Valid driver's license.
- Clean driving record.
- Willingness to work and live in Fort Dauphin.
- Familiarity with traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment.
- Basic math and record-keeping skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Authorized to work in Madagascar and currently residing there.
- Fluency in French and English required; fluency in Malagasy is a plus.
