Sharing our experience for a better blue tomorrow. Reports To Mechanical Supervisor Background The Technician Lead must show strong safety behaviour acting as a safety culture disseminator. They will ensure all procedures are followed and that O &M Contractor and local regulatory compliance are met in all aspects of work. The Technician Lead is responsible for executing maintenance and preservation tasks efficiently and safely to ensure the reliability and longevity of equipment. This role involves performing a variety of maintenance and preservation activities, including but not limited to cleaning, housekeeping, blasting, spraying/painting, isolation and reinstatement, greasing application, and the preservation of topside items like flanges, bolts and valves. They are also responsible for ensuring that their supervisor is made aware of all activities according to procedure, especially when safety is an issue. The Technician Lead will demonstrate exemplary safety awareness and technical competence in all aspects of maintenance and preservation work on and around the vessel. They act as a technical leader to all technicians using their seniority, technical experience and knowledge. They can delegate work and responsibilities to technicians during the execution of their routines. They act as a Technician when required by workload and/or requested by the Supervisor. Authority A Mechanical Technician Lead is authorized to maintain and repair vessel mechanical equipment and systems. Immediate Subordinates Mechanical Technicians, Subcontractors, Visitors and Vendor Representatives Accountable For: Responsibilities & Standards Dismantle, Repair and Reassemble Mechanical Equipment. Identify potential sources of hazard prior to dismantling. Use correct procedures and correct method of dismantling. Carry out the correct isolation and disconnection procedure. Identify, check and prepare components. Apply appropriate tests and test equipment to ensure reassembly is correct and effective. Use of Condition Monitoring on Mechanical Equipment – Adjust instruments to meet operating specification, with minimum disruption and waste. Monitor and record work history or log. Diagnose faults in Mechanical Equipment – respond promptly, select appropriate tests and diagnostic procedures, carry out visual, close and detailed inspections, use results to determine appropriate actions, and record accurate descriptions in documentation. Monitor and maintain pollution control measures – identify unplanned discharges, halt where possible, report as required, use suitable PPE, dispose materials appropriately, enforce protection with colleagues. Contribute to the health and safety of the working environment – keep work area clean, take positive action to stop hazards, raise alarms, alert colleagues, report incidents. Emergency response – carry out emergency response role and demonstrate competence in drills and exercises. Experience desired with offshore experience preferred. Experience and knowledge of hydrocarbon processing systems and utilities. Good experience of Permit to Work, Mechanical Isolation Standards and Risk Assessment. Proficiency in English at a minimum of B2 level according to the CEFR international standard.
