Key Accountabilities

• Support the DP World database infrastructure as directed by the DBA Manager
• Work closely with Infrastructure, Application and Development teams on projects, migrations, upgrades, tuning, architecture, code management and other activities
• Ensure systems maintenance, support, installations, upgrades, performance monitoring and storage administration is carried out with minimum disruption to the operations team
• Assess current and projected database performance then recommend and perform changes and enhancements
• Ensure maximum availability of database systems and minimum disruption due to change - planned or otherwise
• Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota
• Maintain knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in database and related technology
• Evaluate and recommend new database technologies
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Travel to other countries may be required
  

Qualifications, Experience And Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field required
• At least five years of related experience required. OR a combination of equivalent professional training and certifications may be accepted
• Strong experience in managing SQL Server environments in Windows. Including SQL Server 2022 Enterprise Edition, Always ON setup and configuration, Replication, TDE, Mirroring, Point in time recovery, Cluster failover, etc.
• Strong experience in managing Oracle Enterprise in a Linux and/or Windows environment
• Strong experience working with Oracle RAC, Automatic Storage Management (ASM) and Active Data Guard
• Strong experience working with Oracle version 19c
• Experience with PostgreSQL is a bonus
• Strong technical background with proven analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience working in environments that include Windows, Red Hat Linux, Azure and other cloud technologies
• Strong knowledge and experience of working with database management tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager
• Experience working with programming languages (e.g. PowerShell, Ansible, Python, R, Perl, Java, Bash) for general purpose programming e.g. accessing APIs, automating processes, manipulating data and prediction
• Experience following change management, change control processes and problem management
• Highly organized and able to work to a deadline. Requires the ability to manage multiple project requests at the same time and engage team members on a technical level, while effectively communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical people
• Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and manage risk for critical business systems
• Ability to write, present and explain complex concepts to non-technical people with a clear, transparent and open approach to communicating your ideas
• Demonstrated ability to provide timely technical support for internal and external stakeholders and customers
• Strong documentation skills and experience in establishing processes and procedures while developing process improvements
• Thorough understanding of file structures and design, information retrieval techniques, file access methods, and database controls and standards
