Formulation Scientist

Position Summary Support for performing technical service for local lab work, mainly focus on formulation development to support Vantage products promotional & Costumer briefings. Elaborate the reports and Apply Vantage™ raw materials in formulations to provide tools for sales force and strategic customers. The Research Scientist – Formulation & Application, Vantage Personal Care is a science-driven project leader responsible for the planning, managing, supporting and executing of formulation and product development projects in Spain. This role will work with global R&D and MKT teams to ideate, identify and develop new products for launch in market to grow Vantage VPC business in both EMEA and global. This role will develop new personal care applications and create market relevant concepts promoting Vantage technologies to customers through marketing campaigns, customer events, trade shows, etc. This role will design and perform or coordinate the needed performance tests to build and showcase the value proposition of Vantage technologies. This role will require cross-functional collaboration between departments, laboratory sites, and external partners to help solve customers’ challenges, as well as to drive optimization effectiveness of process/procedures and best practices associated with application/ formulation development. This role will also interact with the global team, and develop strong know-how of cosmetic formulations. Position Scope The position will be located in Brasil. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Development of new formulations to highlight ingredients from Vantage portfolio and their added values in formulation (skin care, hair care, makeup, and toiletries applications) according to internal and external needs, such as Marketing campaigns, trade shows, customers events and needs etc. Support in tests for performance studies and sensorial tests for costumer projects. Contribute to new product development projects to improve VPC product portfolio, including discovering new products based on market trends and customers feedback, assessing technical feasibility, developing the new product, designing and conducting needed performance tests to improve the product design, and finalizing product specs, etc. Monitor stability testing of formulations: organoleptic and physicochemical analyses. Qualification of Vantage ingredients and issue the report with the results. Ensure the efficient operation of the laboratory (respect for SOPs, raw materials and packaging inventory management…). Use knowledge of routine laboratory safety procedures, SDS’s and interpretations of hazards/toxicity data to perform all laboratory work in accordance with the written safety manual and site safety policies. Be a steward for safety and continually drive awareness to ensure a safe work environment for all employees. Understand formulation procedures and technologies and incorporate this understanding into applications that add value to customer products. Maintain accurate records of all laboratory work and research in accordance with generally accepted laboratory principles. Manage the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Education & Experience: Education: Bachelor of Chemistry, Pharmacobiology, Cosmetics Technology, Pharmacy or related areas, linked to sciences (Chemistry). Experience: between 5 to 8 years working experience in the cosmetics and chemical industry. Knowledge, Skills, & Talents Spanish and English speaker. Knowledge of development Personal Care products (Formulation & process).
