Fullstack Developer - Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and React Native

Brazilian startup Umatch is looking for a talented Fullstack Developer to support the continued growth and technical evolution of our international dating app. As part of a fast-growing startup, you will play a critical role in shaping both the backend and frontend of our platform, ensuring that it remains scalable, stable, and optimized for our users as we expand internationally. This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of the full stack and collaborate across developers.

Your mission in this position is to ensure a highly stable, scalable, and performant platform by contributing to the frontend and backend codebases. You will handle rapid user growth, address scalability challenges, and ensure a seamless user experience for all users.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Backend Development: Contribute to the backend built with Node.js , TypeScript , and PostgreSQL , ensuring fast bug resolution and smooth performance even during high-traffic periods. You'll optimize SQL-based queue algorithms and help introduce new features as the platform scales.
  • Frontend Development: Contribute to the React Native app and React Web services, particularly focusing on upgrading the tech stack (React Native, Expo, associated libraries), fixing bugs, and maintaining a responsive user interface across various devices. You’ll also optimize user flows and resolve remnants of A/B tests for cleaner UI/UX.
  • Performance & Scalability: Address challenges related to high user volumes, particularly during peak periods. You'll ensure that the app remains stable and responsive while scaling both the backend infrastructure and frontend interface.
  • Feature Development & Innovation: After ensuring stability and scalability, you will help develop and introduce new features across the full stack, collaborating with other developers to drive innovation.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience with Node.js , TypeScript , PostgreSQL , and React Native.
  • 3+ years of experience in both frontend and backend development.
  • Proven ability to manage and optimize SQL-based systems and algorithms for efficient app performance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and a collaborative mindset.
  • Great debugging skills.
  • Strong UI/UX optimization capability.
  • Familiarity with A/B testing methodologies and phased-out feature cleanups.
  • Ability to work closely with other developers to drive new features and improvements.
  • Availability to work in person in São Paulo, close to the Faria Lima subway station.
