To work at the Microscopic Samples Laboratory (LAM) of the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS)

Main Activities

Prepare low-dimensional advanced samples, mainly two-dimensional, and their van der Waals heterostructures;
Develop your own research using synchrotron radiation to study low-dimensional complex systems in collaboration with academic and/or industrial partners, aligned with the LNLS goals;
Contribute to increasing the participation of the low-dimensional scientific community in the call for proposals for the use of beamline facilities at SIRIUS;
Help to ensure continuous operation of our supporting facility, being capable of implementing new specific techniques and instrumentation regarding advanced sample preparation;
Support the external users as a local contact, including training them in our open facilities;
Participate in ongoing in-house outreach programs for popularizing science and technology and promoting diversity in science.

Required Qualifications

PhD in Physics or Materials Science;
Experience with synchrotron light techniques mainly focused on low-dimensional material characterization;
Expertise in sample preparation using optical, electronic, and ion beam microscopy techniques;
Mastery of standard and sophisticated and state-of-art spectroscopy characterization techniques of low-dimensional systems (SNOM, SPM, Raman, PL) for correlative studies with synchrotron radiation techniques;
Substantial research on low-dimensional hierarchical and heterogeneous materials, such as ultrathin complex compounds, horizontal and vertical van der Waals heterostructures, as well as hybrid heterostructures (1D/2D), and magnetics systems.
