Researcher (beamline scientist) position at MANACÁ group of the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS)

Main Activities

To develop research projects on topics involving the determination of the structure of small molecules by crystallography (single crystal), from the preparation of suitable samples for the diffraction experiment to the processing and analysis of the structural data.
Provide scientific support in the MANACÁ beamline user program, acting as local contact for external and internal proposals (mainly, but not only, in small molecule proposals).
Participate in training/qualification and dissemination activities for the LNLS users community.

Required Qualifications

Degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Physics, Engineering or similar.
PhD in Science, Chemistry, Pharmacy or related areas.
Knowledge of X-ray diffraction.
Solid experience in small molecule crystallography (articles and deposited structures).
Data processing and analysis of crystallographic structures, including determination of absolute configuration.
Basic notions in projects aiming the optimization of the MANACÁ beamline (macromolecule crystallography) for experiments with small molecule crystals.
Advanced English.

Desirables

Structure determination of small molecules using synchrotron.
Experience with organic synthesis and analysis.
Experience in scientific instrumentation.
Basics of programming in Python and Linux (shell).
Experience with crystallography of macromolecules and other techniques that use synchrotron light.
Ability/enthusiasm in developing new methods and resources for small molecule data collection and processing.
