Hydro Havrand is a subsidiary of Hydro which aims to build, own and operate hydrogen production facilities.

The purpose of Hydro Havrand is to drive the supply of green hydrogen (hydrogen based on renewable sources) to sectors that are unable to electrify its processes directly - such as certain industries, long-distance transport and shipping.

The EU calls hydrogen the 'the missing part in the puzzle to a fully decarbonized economy'. We aim to be part of solving that puzzle.


Hydro Havrand is an industrial venture with global ambitions, building on Hydro's 115 years of experience within renewable energy and industry development to build world-leading capabilities and operational performance.


Hydrogen is only as clean as the methods used to produce it, and our hydrogen is based on hydro, solar and wind power.

Together with our owner and partners, we have access to a global network of sites with large predictable offtake and favorable power sourcing agreements.

The position is responsible for driving and coordinating Hydro's Sustainability agenda for Hydro Havrand in Brazil, following local regulations, Hydro's policies and International Standards.

The E&S manager will lead the Environmental and Social workstreams in Havrand's projects, ensuring a long-term positive impact for society and environment and performance of the business considering environmenal and social aspects as well as risk and impact management.

The manager will be responsible for all environmental licensing activities and contacts with key stakeholders and local authorities.


We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Environmental and Sustainability manager that will contribute to Hydro's agenda for Renewable Energy.


Areas of responsibility/Role

  • Shape and execute ESG strategy and key targets for Hydro Havrand in Brazil;
  • Lead Sustainability, Environmental, CSR and ESG workstreams in Hydro Havrand Projects;
  • Develop strategy and plans for licensing projects in Brazil and followup the licensing process with authorities and key stakeholders;
  • Ensure adherence to Hydro's policies, local regulations and international standards;
  • Develop and issue ESG reports for our projects and operations in Brazil;
  • Develop scope of work and action plans for the projects;
  • Deliver and coordinate life cycle analyses, calculations and reporting of carbon footprint for Hydro Havrand's projects;
  • Identify, commission and act upon internal and external reviews of key sustainability challenges (e.g. biodiversity and rehabilitation, waste management and water stewardship);
  • Advise, orient, engage and support the identification, prioritization and resolution of operational challenges that could have environmental impacts;
  • Hire and followup E&S consultants and contractors;
  • Establish and maintain stakeholder dialogue and engagement;
  • Actively contribute to Hydro Havrand's sustainability agenda;
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and internal competence building throughout Hydro Havrand;
  • Develop and maintain ESG competence for Havrand in Brazil.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree/MBA or similar in relevant area;
  • Solid ESG / Sustainability experience;
  • Experience from project management and coordination of complex processes;
  • Experience with Renewables and / or Industrial Project Licensing;
  • Knowledge of local regulations and relevant policy issues;
  • Experience with ESG requirements for international financing is an advantage;
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Excellent organization skills, with ability to prioritize critical tasks and manage workload from different projects;
  • Uncompromising integrity;
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and "can do" attitude;
  • Valuedriven, with high focus on collaboration;
  • Flexibility to travel to sites and project locations is expected (short duration).
