POSITION
JUNIOR TECHNICIAN - CARPENTER

PURPOSE OF THE
POSITION


As a Junior Technician - Carpenter in the hospitality industry, you will play a vital role in ensuring the upkeep, maintenance, and repair of wooden structures, furniture, and fixtures within the hospitality establishment.

Your skills will contribute to creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for guests and staff alike.

Reporting to the Senior Technician or Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for a range of carpentry tasks to maintain the facility's appearance and functionality.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Skilled in repairing antique wood.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training in carpentry is a plus.
  • Previous experience in carpentry, preferably in a hospitality or similar setting.
  • Proficiency in using carpentry tools and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of woodworking techniques, joinery, and finishing.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures when working with tools and machinery.
  • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and other departments.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, and working in various positions.
  • Problemsolving skills to address unexpected carpentry challenges.

JOB DUTIES

Repair and Maintenance:

Perform routine inspections of wooden furniture, fixtures, and structures to identify areas that require repair or replacement.

Repair and refurbish damaged furniture, cabinets, doors, windows, and other wooden items to maintain their aesthetic and functional integrity.

Address issues related to loose joints, broken parts, and other structural problems to ensure safety and usability.

Installation and Assembly:


Assist in the installation and assembly of new furniture, fittings, and fixtures, ensuring they are aligned with the establishment's design and safety standards.

Collaborate with other technicians, contractors, and maintenance staff to ensure smooth installations and renovations.

Finishing and Refinishing:


Sand and refinish wooden items to restore them to their original condition and maintain a consistent look throughout the facility.

Inventory Management:

Maintain an organized inventory of carpentry tools, materials, and supplies.

Request and procure necessary materials and supplies for carpentry projects, adhering to budgetary constraints.

Safety and Compliance:


Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working with tools and machinery to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.

Ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations in all carpentry projects.

Collaboration:

Coordinate with the maintenance team to prioritize and address urgent repair and maintenance tasks.


Collaborate with other departments, such as housekeeping and engineering, to address carpentry-related concerns in guest rooms, public areas, and facilities.

Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of carpentry work performed, including repairs, installations, and material usage.

Provide regular updates to the maintenance team and management regarding the status of ongoing projects and completed tasks.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Tax free salary USD $3,000 and $500 subsistance allowance
