Responsible for managing all aspects of the Finance function in Brazil ensuring the function has sufficient resource (be it insourced or outsourced) to deliver its responsibilities. To liaise with the Shared Services Finance function in the UK and Malta ensuring the service provided meets the requirements of the Brazilian entity.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

Ensure that the outsourced financial services provided to the companies are provided to a high standard, are fit for purpose and represent good value for money. Review of periodic management accounts and preparation / presentation of commentaries to the Board to agreed reporting timetables.

Planning

Liaise with management across all departments in the preparation of budgets and reforecasts to ensure that they are prepared to a high standard using the most detailed and relevant information available.

Purchasing

Ensure robust control over purchase ordering, invoice authorisation and approval of supplier payments.

Expenditure control

Maintain strong controls over expenditure, including review of authorisation processes and ensuring payments are in accordance with current agreements.

Rental Properties

Manage all aspects of the company rented properties in Brazil including timely payment of rents and other charges as well as agreement renewals or terminations, including all relevant considerations for lease accounting.

Fixed assets

Ensure the accurate recording of capital expenditure (asset additions), asset disposals and the implementation of asset verification including, where feasible, the physical tagging of fixed assets.

Balance sheet

Ensure that strong financial controls are exercised over balance sheet control accounts, minimising exposure to financial losses. Verify the regular reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts.

Statutory accounts & Audits

Liaise with auditors to plan and complete audit work and to clear queries to agreed timetables.

Tax / Duty

Ensure that all tax regulations are complied within the relevant jurisdictions to include the accurate calculation and timely payment of all duties and taxes.

Internal Controls

Identify weaknesses in internal controls and design control procedures to mitigate fraud risk and to safeguard company assets.

Staffing

Ensure that the Brazilian finance function staffing resource is adequate and appropriately trained to deliver its responsibilities.

Banking

Management of local banking relationships and payments in conjunction with support from "Group Treasury".

Payroll

Assisting with the preparation of the Brazilian payroll, review the accuracy of the staff payroll prior to submission for processing to agreed deadlines. Approval of payroll electronic payments. Ensuring the accurate and timely submission of payroll year end reconciliations, reporting of benefits and related tax submissions and payments. Ensuring pension contributions are calculated correctly and that they are made to the service provided in line with agreed service standards.
