Job Title: Senior Java Engineer (Search and Relevancy Engineer)


Overview:

We are looking for experienced Software Engineers to help develop and improve our search and data processing systems. You'll work with tools like Elasticsearch, Spring Framework, Kafka, and APIs in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain search and data processing systems using Elastic, Spring, Kafka, and APIs.
  • Improve performance and scalability of our infrastructure to support growing data and user activity.
  • Work with teams to define and deliver new product features.
  • Ensure data is properly indexed and optimized for fast, accurate search.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot system performance to keep systems reliable and available.
  • Participate in code reviews and follow high coding standards.
  • Keep up with industry trends and new technologies.
  • Translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Support junior team members and help guide their growth.


Requirements:

  • 8-10 years of experience in software engineering.
  • Strong experience with Elasticsearch and search technologies.
  • Proficient in Java and Java batch processing.
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka and distributed messaging systems.
  • Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with CI/CD, containers (Docker, Kubernetes), and microservices.


Nice to Have:

  • Experience with other search engines and NoSQL databases.
  • Some experience coordinating small teams is a plus.
  • Exposure to machine learning or data analytics.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices.
