Key ResponsibilitiesDefine and maintain the enterprise automation architecture strategy for nuclear operations, including control systems, SCADA, data integration, and emerging technologiesLead the evaluation, selection, and standardization of automation platforms, tools, and technologies across the nuclear fleetDesign comprehensive automation frameworks that integrate PLCs, DCS, SCADA, historians, MES, and enterprise systems while maintaining safety and securityProvide strategic technical leadership for major automation initiatives, digital transformation projects, and plant modernization effortsDevelop automation standards, design patterns, and best practices that ensure consistency, scalability, and compliance across all nuclear facilitiesCollaborate with nuclear leadership, operations, engineering, IT, and cybersecurity teams to align automation strategy with business objectives and regulatory requirementsArchitect solutions that incorporate advanced technologies including AI/ML, digital twins, edge computing, and predictive analytics into nuclear operationsEnsure automation architectures comply with NRC regulations, 10 CFR requirements, NERC CIP standards, and nuclear cybersecurity protocolsLead technical assessments and due diligence for automation system upgrades, replacements, and vendor selectionsMentor and guide automation engineers and architects across the organization, fostering technical excellence and innovationDrive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and system reliability through automationRepresent NextEra Energy in industry forums, working groups, and partnerships related to nuclear automation and digital transformationRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)10+ years of experience in industrial automation with significant experience in architecture and strategic rolesDeep expertise in automation technologies including PLCs, DCS, SCADA, historians, and industrial communication protocolsProven track record of designing and implementing large-scale automation architectures in complex environmentsStrong understanding of enterprise integration patterns, APIs, data architectures, and cloud/hybrid infrastructureExtensive knowledge of cybersecurity principles for industrial control systems and operational technologyAbility to obtain and maintain security clearance for nuclear facility accessExceptional strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder management skillsExperience leading cross-functional teams and influencing at all organizational levels What do we offer?
