Data Engineer – Retail Energy

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize data pipelines supporting Retail Power’s forecasting, pricing, and reporting workflows. This role will focus on integrating Salesforce data, usage history, pricing curves, and other operational datasets into Databricks and SQL MI to enable accurate forecasting, deal pricing, and downstream analytics across the business.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) and Databricks.
  • Integrate diverse data sources—including usage history, weather data, pricing curves, and product terms—into standardized and scalable data models.
  • Build, manage, and optimize Delta Lake tables in ADLS for staging, reference, and historical datasets.
  • Support forecasting, pricing, and analytics workflows using Azure Notebooks and Databricks Jobs.
  • Implement best practices for data governance, data lineage tracking, and archival strategies.
  • Collaborate with forecasting, pricing, and product teams to ensure high-quality, reliable data availability.
  • Contribute to secure data architectures by implementing cloud security controls and adhering to best practices.


Essential Skills & Experience

  1. Strong SQL skills and expertise in data modeling.
  2. Hands-on experience with Databricks, ADLS, PySpark, and Delta Lake.
  3. Demonstrated experience building data pipelines in Azure Data Factory.
  4. Familiarity with forecasting and pricing workflows in the energy or retail sector.
  5. Experience with API ingestion and data integration; exposure to Endur is a plus.
  6. Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities, with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  7. Working knowledge of modern Service Delivery methods such as:
  8. Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
  9. ITIL
  10. Product-based delivery methodologies
  11. Understanding of cloud security best practices and implementation of secure data processing controls.
