About BrandMonitor:
BrandMonitor is a leading global IT and legal firm specializing in intellectual property rights protection. Representing over 350 international brands across diverse industries—including apparel, accessories, and luxury goods—BrandMonitor is dedicated to combating counterfeiting and online brand abuse worldwide. Our services range from online monitoring and enforcement to offline investigations and comprehensive legal support.
Mandatory skills and qualifications (please don’t apply unless you meet these criteria):
- Bachelor’s degree in Law from a reputable institution.
- Enrolled at the Rio de Janeiro Bar Association (OAB/RJ).
- Fluent in Portuguese and English, both written and spoken (the candidate will communicate daily with our global teams from around the world).
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in IP rights protection, preferably in a law firm specializing in the IP field.
- Proven experience in anti-counterfeiting, preferably with a focus on criminal proceedings and working with law-enforcement authorities.
Other desired skills:
- Strong knowledge of Brazilian IP laws, regulations, and court procedures.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple cases, and meet tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and send cease-and-desist letters to IP infringers.
- Draft and conclude settlement agreements with IP infringers, overseeing all stages of negotiation during the pre-court phase.
- Conduct criminal enforcement actions, including the planning and execution of counterfeit product seizures.
- Support BrandMonitor’s business operations in Rio de Janeiro and nearby regions.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Prepare and file trademark and copyright infringement lawsuits.
- Represent clients in civil and criminal lawsuits, mediations, and other court proceedings.
- Assess multiple infringement cases, providing clients with legal opinions and proposed actions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to protect and enhance client brand integrity.
- Stay updated on the latest developments in IP law and regulations.
