Senior Software Engineer (JavaScript / RoR)We are looking for a full-time, remote Senior Software Engineer with 5+ years of software development experience using Ruby on Rails to join as a core member of our U.S. client's tight-knit, experienced engineering team. In this role, you will play a leadership role as well as actively contribute to strategizing and building at the feature level rather than just focusing on outputs.Our client is a venture capital-backed health tech company transforming the industry's coding practices by creating a marketplace that connects healthcare companies with over 4,000 certified coding specialists. The client is focused on expanding quickly its product, engineering, and design teams with passionate builders who thrive in a fast-paced environment to support its rapid growth.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with engineering and product stakeholders to define, design, and build new features and integrationsAdvance software platform capabilities using Ruby on RailsDevelop and support third-party integrations with B2B healthcare systemsProvide work estimates for bug fixes, enhancements, and featuresDeliver high-quality, well-documented code with velocityMentor junior engineers and aid the engineering team with troubleshootingWrite and execute unit testsPromote development best practices following team standards with an eye towards innovation and opportunities to scaleWork independently with minimal need for oversight and a bias towards action as well as display a willingness to ask questions when needed to remain efficientBecome energized by tackling new challenges and eagerly give and receive feedback from colleaguesRequired ExperienceExcellent English communication and interpersonal skills5+ years of professional software engineering experience using Ruby on Rails, including version 7+, with a strong background in JavaScript and frameworks (preferably Stimulus)Experience taking the lead on complete features, appropriate to your level, and showing initiative to solve ambiguous problemsExperience creating and consuming APIsKnowledge of relational / non-relational database systemsProven delivery experience in a vibrant, dynamic startup environmentA collaborative approach, a can-do attitude, and a relentless pursuit to attain goals and solve problemsTrustworthy, team-oriented, and transparentDesired ExperienceUniversity degree or relevant industry experience (optimally a technical or engineering degree)Experience in healthcare, healthtech industry, or growth stage startupsExperience with Stimulus, Turbo, Tailwind, Sidekiq, or Heroku ShieldAdditional InformationKnowing your ideas are heard and matter think bigYou get to own your job and be recognized for your contributionsWork with smart and creative peopleMaking mistakes is human.
