Databricks Architect / Senior Data Engineer (Contract)

Location: Brazil (Remote – supporting US-based clients)

Contract Length: 6 months


Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Databricks Architect who remains highly hands-on as a Data Engineer to support data platform design and delivery for US-based clients. This role will focus on building and optimizing modern lakehouse solutions, with strong ownership of architecture decisions while actively contributing to development.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and evolve Databricks lakehouse solutions, following medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) best practices
  • Act as the technical architect while remaining hands-on in pipeline development, optimization, and troubleshooting
  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines using Databricks, Spark, and SQL
  • Collaborate with US-based stakeholders, architects, and delivery teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Optimize performance, cost, and reliability across data workloads
  • Contribute to data modeling, data quality, and governance practices
  • Leverage recent exposure to Microsoft Fabric where appropriate, understanding how it complements or integrates with Databricks-based architectures


Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience as a Databricks Architect and/or Senior Data Engineer
  • Proven, hands-on experience implementing medallion architecture in production environments
  • Advanced knowledge of Apache Spark, Databricks, and SQL
  • Experience designing end-to-end data pipelines and lakehouse architectures
  • Recent exposure to Microsoft Fabric (hands-on preferred)
  • Ability to balance architecture leadership with hands-on engineering work
  • Strong English language skills and experience working with US-based clients or teams


Nice to Have

  • Experience in consulting or professional services environments
  • Familiarity with data governance, security, and cost optimization in cloud platforms
  • Experience working in hybrid Databricks / Fabric ecosystems
