Job Purpose:

The Cost Engineers collaborate globally across Procurement and divisions to provide better service and products at lower cost.

To support fact-based decision making in Procurement we want to build and strengthen the Cost Engineering function to identify improvement opportunities and maximize business value.


Your tasks:

Cost Engineering

  • Works with partners in Procurement, Solution Engineering and Operations through applying Cost & Value Engineering levers
  • Collaborates across functions to realize improvement roadmaps, standardization and complexity reduction
  • Improves the competitiveness and quality of DHL Group products & services through cost analysis, design-to-value & standardization projects
  • Supports DHL Group’s engineering and category teams to drive forward preferred solution designs
  • Communicates accurately and timely project metrics to key stakeholders

People

  • Training and coaching of Category Sourcing Managers and Solution Engineers
  • Works in a Community of Practice on Cost Engineering topics at DHL Group to identify best practices, promote active knowledge sharing in the network of Solution Engineers, Category Sourcing Managers and through this improves our current working processes, standards, tools & methods


Your profile:

Education Level

  • Advanced English skills
  • Bachelor/Master degree in a technical subject (preferably Industrial Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, IT, Operations Research or similar)

Experience Level

  • 5 years of industry experience in Development, Procurement, Operations/Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management or similar functions

Other Requirements

  • Coach and help professionals to work on strategic saving opportunities and capture them correctly
  • Proven track record in identifying and implementing optimal solutions and cost reduction opportunities in a consultative approach and based on business needs
  • Problem solving skills, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience to facilitate better decision making in Development and Procurement, based on knowledge of key manufacturing technologies
  • Project and quality management experience gained, e.g. in Supply Base Management, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or consulting programs
  • Experience in working with expert project teams to improve identified opportunities
  • Teaming skills to drive change and challenge project teams; strong English communication skills to share solutions with project teams and suppliers
  • Suggestions to improve systems (cost and value) and convince cross functional partners
  • Travelling approx. 20%
