JustiFi, a fintech company based in St. Paul, Minnesota, has developed a cutting-edge Embedded Finance Infrastructure company. This unique platform offers our partners the architecture they need to operate as Payment Facilitators and provide customers with a range of embedded fintech options.


At JustiFi, we are currently seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our talented team and contribute to building our exceptional platform. You'll work alongside other skilled engineers to implement new features for our internal and external backend APIs (Ruby on Rails, Postgres), as well as various microservices utilizing modern cloud technologies like AWS and Docker.


We are looking for a passionate engineer who values writing quality software and staying up-to-date with the latest frameworks. Most importantly, we need someone who is excited to hit the ground running in our highly collaborative environment.

Technology stack

  • Frontend: React
  • Backend: Ruby on Rails
  • Services hosted on AWS
  • Observability: Log and Metrics and monitoring via DataDog
  • Agile, Scrum-based project management approach with Continuous Delivery
  • Modern use of tools and documentation; GitHub, Jira, OpenAPI 3.0, Redocly


Senior Backend Engineer expectations:

  • Be a part of the early engineering team at JustiFi.
  • Work on the core of Fintech, building payments processing systems.
  • Contribute to the architecture design and implementation of full-stack platform needs
  • As an early team member, assist with day-to-day development management of use cases, story writing, code review, and QA+API Documentation.
  • Leverage an API-first strategy, where APIs come first for both internal and public-facing use


Experience and qualities that will be a good fit:

  • 5+ years of experience
  • 2+ years of experience using Ruby on Rails
  • Interest in building both public and internal APIs
  • Enjoy being part of a highly collaborative, remote-friendly work environment
  • Like to wear many hats from an engineering perspective and are comfortable in a startup environment
  • You like to think creatively
  • Have a passion for learning and applying that knowledge to solving problems
  • Strong technical documentation skills
  • Understanding of authentication, encryption, and security techniques
