Position Overview:
Look North World seeks an experienced Lead QA Tester (full-time contract) from the video game industry to join our team and spearhead a new QA department at our innovative publisher/developer. As the Lead QA Tester, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and integrity of our clients' video game titles across various platforms.
We're not your typical game developer and publisher. We're pioneering a new category in the industry, fueled by our passion for creating innovative gameplay experiences and pushing the boundaries of interactive entertainment. Our unique approach involves developing new gameplay and intellectual property (IP) within Creator marketplaces, with our initial focus on UEFN. Our company is the product of a team of seasoned game developers with a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success.
This is a fully remote position, starting as a 6-month contract opportunity. No visa sponsorship will be provided.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the quality and integrity of our clients' video game titles across various platforms
- Lead and oversee a team of video game testers, providing guidance, mentorship, and training to ensure high-quality testing results
- Collaborate with project managers, leads, and stakeholders to develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and testing strategies tailored to client requirements and objectives
- Conduct thorough testing of video game titles across multiple platforms (PC, console, and mobile devices) to identify and report defects, glitches, and other issues
- Coordinate and prioritize testing activities to meet project deadlines and milestones, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality results
- Maintain clear, detailed documentation of testing processes, procedures, and results, including test plans, matrices, and bug reports
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, providing regular updates on testing progress, identifying risks and issues, and proposing solutions and recommendations
- Assist in recruiting, selecting, onboarding, and training new QA Testers as the workforce scales
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in video game quality assurance, sharing knowledge and insights with the team to drive continuous improvement
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED or some college education
- 8+ years of experience in video game quality assurance, with a strong understanding of QA principles, methodologies, and processes
- Proven experience testing video game titles across multiple platforms, including PC, console, and mobile devices
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively mentor and manage a team of testers
- Proficiency in using industry-standard testing tools and software, such as bug tracking systems, test management tools, and version control systems
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and prioritize testing activities based on project requirements and objectives
- Passion for gaming and a deep understanding of gaming mechanics, genres, and platforms
- Hardware and internet connection for remote work
- Proficiency in speaking and writing English
