This position is for an Associate Credit Analyst responsible for overseeing a portfolio of issuers and conducting credit analysis of new and existing issuers at Moody's Local.

The primary focus of this role will be on banks, insurers, and asset management companies. Reporting to the Associate Director of Financial Institutions, the position includes elements of indirect management, coaching, and mentoring of junior analysts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct quantitative assessment of financial documents, economic/market data, and analysis of bond indentures, liquidity agreements, financial statements, and other legal documents.
  • Perform initial and ongoing credit analysis on a dedicated portfolio of companies and transactions.
  • Actively manage the portfolio and provide recommendations for rating transitions in a timely manner.
  • Effectively present credit assessments in rating committees and internal analytical meetings, articulate a coherent credit rationale persuasively.
  • Demonstrate credit rating judgment through the ability to differentiate among entities and transactions at various credit ratings.
  • Produce timely and pertinent research on specific issuers, general credit trends, or sector-related issues that are thorough, high quality, informative, and focused.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with investors, advisors, and issuers.
  • Enhance the Moody's Local Brazil franchise through intermediary marketing and transparency initiatives.
  • Lead issuer meetings, presenting key credit rating factors effectively and engaging in meaningful dialogues about critical credit issues.
  • Mentor and develop junior analysts.
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in economics, accounting, engineering, business administration, statistics, actuarial science. A graduate/second-level degree (e.g., MBA, Master's) is a bonus.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of substantial experience in credit analysis, with a keen interest in corporate or financial entities and transactions.
  • Proficiency in Word and PowerPoint; mandatory Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and modeling skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and English.
  • Capable of managing competing priorities within deadlines.
  • Able to adapt to changing environments and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Knowledge of Python programming and Visual Basic for Applications is advantageous.
