Construction Intern

CalPortland is seeking a summer intern for the Construction Group. This internship is ideal for a student interested in construction management and accounting. This individual will have the opportunity to work on a variety of heavy civil projects such as road, bridge, disaster recovery, etc., performing tasks in all phases of the project (i.e., bid/estimates, fieldwork, documentation, compliance reporting, etc.)Compensation $22.00-$26.00/hr DOEResponsibilities Complete Safety and MSHA training and any other site/job specific required trainingCarry-out and practice all Safety training and Company policies in the CalPortland workplaceAssist in routine housekeeping and maintenance of the facilitiesAssist with equipment costing analysisAssist with building a reporting process that can review and qualify all operating and ownership costLearn about other CalPortland departments and interface as requiredAttend Summer Intern Orientation event at Corporate Headquarters in Glendora, CAPerform plant tasks as assignedEducation Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field.Requirements/Qualifications Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Good attendance and punctualAbility to work independently and in a team settingPreferred:Experience with SAPPrior experience or internship in the construction or building materials industryConditions of Employment Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check.
