Job Title: L3 MySQL PostgreSQL Database Engineer
Location: Brazil (Remote)

About the Role
We are looking for a senior-level database engineer to lead the design, deployment, and automation of PostgreSQL and MySQL platforms across both cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes environments. This role requires strong experience building resilient systems using Terraform in AWSOCI as well as managing Kubernetes-native deployments using Helm and Argo CD. You will be responsible for prototyping new solutions, defining standards, and creating automation workflows that support highly available, secure, and maintainable database services. This is a senior engineering position with a focus on architecture, automation, documentation, and mentoring

Key Responsibilities
An architect highly available cloud-native MySQL and PostgreSQL clusters using Kubernetes Operators
Prototype and maintain Helm chartsKustomize for deployment of CNPG Percona Operator and supporting components
Manage infrastructure as code using Terraform
Implement and manage GitOps workflows using Argo CD
Lead design of backuprestore PITR, failover, and disaster recovery strategies
Tune query performance, replication, and storage behavior across platforms
Write clear production-ready documentation SOPs and runbooks for L2 teams
Lead end-to-end delivery of DB engineering projects, escalating only when needed

Operator deployment via CNPG
MySQL technical experience
Deep InnoDB understanding redo logs, buffer pool tuning
Performance tuning and optimization
GTID replication semisync RDSAurora HA topologies
Backup via Percona XtraBackup logical dumps snapshots
Operator-based deployment with Percona Operator
Automation and IaC
Experience using Argo CD for GitOps-style deployment
Helm chartKustomize creation and management
Deep Terraform proficiency for cloud infrastructure automation
Strong Python skills to build reusable automation libraries and scripts
Infrastructure Cloud
Experience with one of AWS, Azure, or OCI clouds is a must
Understanding of cloud-native database deployments, RDS, IAM secrets, and network security
Strong grasp of Kubernetes networking, RBAC, Stateful Sets, volumes, and node affinity
Operational Excellence
Project ownership from design through delivery and L2 handoff
Strong documentation skills, SOPs, diagrams, and runbooks
Excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis under pressure
Ability to mentor L2 engineers and oversee their execution

Bonus Skills
Kubernetes secrets management: Sealed Secrets, External Secrets
CICD patterns for DB change promotion, e.G., schema diffs
Load testing and benchmarking Sysbench pgbench
Familiarity with other engines, MongoDB, Redis, Elastic Cache, etc
