Role Overview: 

Own the integrity, scalability, and strategic insight of our accounting function. Build systems and people that let the CEO sleep at night—and impress lenders, investors, and tax authorities alike. 

You will report to the CEO, act as de-facto CFO, and oversee our portfolio. In year one you'll cut the close to three days, migrate key entities from cash to accrual, and stand-up a three-layer accounting team (junior, senior, lead).

Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closes across 100+ legal entities; manage consolidations, intercompany eliminations, and minority-interest reconciliations.

Serve as primary liaison for external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners; ensure clean audits and timely filings.

Build, refine, and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures across finance and procurement.

Deliver executive reporting: dashboarding, financial KPIs, and investor decks for board and fundraising use.

Support budgeting, forecasting, scenario modeling, and strategic planning processes.

Mentor and grow junior/mid-level accounting and finance staff.

SCCKEPPP Framework: Ensuring Functional Fit  

Skills 

• Mastery of U.S. GAAP, consolidations, and multi-entity real-estate accounting; 
• Yardi "power-user" depth; advanced Excel/Power BI. 

Circumstances 

• Reliable home office, ≥50 Mbps internet, ability to travel 1-2×/year for leadership summits & site visits. 

Conditions 

• 8–10 + years total experience, including ≥3 years as Controller/Assistant Controller; CPA highly preferred. 

Knowledge 

• Lease accounting, REIT structures, debt compliance, ASC 842/606, and multi-state tax.  

Experience 

• Led at least one ERP migration or large-scale process overhaul with measurable ROI.
