Job Title: Offshore Welding Specialist

Location: Offshore, Onboard Pipelay Vessel – Brazil

Contract Duration: 6 Months (Possible to Extension)

Rotation: 4x4 Shift (12-Hour Shifts: 12 AM – 12 PM)

Start Date: March 2025

As Offshore Welding Specialist, you’ll be the cornerstone of welding operations onboard a cutting-edge pipelay vessel, ensuring the seamless installation and pre-commissioning of SURF equipment (Subsea Umbilicals, Risers, and Flowlines). Your Mission:


EPC Phase - Preparation for Success

  • Lead the review and validation of operational deliverables, procedures, and documentation to ensure alignment with project designs and constraints.
  • Act as the linchpin for all welding-related activities, coordinating effectively across disciplines and resolving interface challenges.
  • Guarantee contractors deliver high-quality, installation-ready documents on time.


Installation Phase – Making It Happen

  • Oversight: Review contractor and supplier documentation, including Procedures, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), and Surveillance Plans.
  • Execution: Ensure flawless implementation of QA/QC plans, monitoring daily welding activities.
  • Inspection: Conduct regular and random checks on welding operations, challenging contractors to exceed performance standards.
  • Compliance: Verify material and equipment certifications, ensuring adherence to technical and safety standards.
  • Responsiveness: Identify, stop, and report any anomalies or non-conformities immediately to the Company Site Representative.
  • Leadership: Participate actively in daily briefings, fostering collaboration and alignment among all stakeholders.

What You Bring to the Table:


Education

  • Degree in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.


Experience

  • 10–15 years of deepwater offshore welding supervision.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience on pipelay vessels (J-Lay systems), including:
  • Clad Pipe Welding (Inconel 625).
  • Automatic Welding Technologies (e.g., CRC Bug, Serimax Bug, Saipem Bug).
  • Expertise in 2G and 5G welding services.
  • Start-up experience on new pipelay vessels and welding installations is highly valued.
  • Proven track record in deepwater SURF projects and offshore operations.


Certifications

  • Mandatory: IWI-C (International Welding Inspector) or IWE (International Welding Engineer).
  • Safety Training: CBSP (Basic Offshore Safety Course) and HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training).


Languages

  • Fluent English is essential.
  • French proficiency is a bonus.

The Offshore Experience

  • Duration: 7 months (March 2025 start) possible to extension.
