Goal

We are a US-based game development studio working on an exciting new project: a survival multiplayer, procedurally generated, pixel-art style game set for release on the Steam platform. Our team is small but driven, and we are looking for a talented Lead Game Developer from Brazil to help shape and lead our development efforts.


Role

As the lead developer, you'll work hand-in-hand with the founder, who is also the original developer. You will reference an existing codebase written in Rust and transition our development efforts to C# (possibly MonoGame or Godot) for release on the Steam platform. We seek a self-motivated individual eager to see their contributions shine on platforms like Steam and potentially consoles. In this role, you'll birth our new platform, confidently introducing new features and eventually setting the stage for a junior developer to come on board. You should be adept at working with autonomy, making critical architectural and design decisions with minimal guidance. This role requires a seasoned professional who is self-driven and experienced in building games from the ground up. Our vision is to forge a relationship spanning multiple years.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the game development process from concept to launch, defining game architecture and choosing the appropriate technologies
  • Work independently and collaboratively to code in C# for a pixel-art style, 2D procedural game, targeting the Steam platform
  • Select and utilize a suitable framework (such as MonoGame or others) for development, leveraging its capabilities for 2D game creation
  • Design and implement core game systems, including game loops, networking, and entity management
  • Develop and optimize 2D graphics, including sprite animation, tilemaps, and shaders
  • Implement and refine collision detection, physics systems, and server/client networking for multiplayer gameplay
  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of lighting effects and other visual enhancements
  • Utilize Steam's GameNetworkingSockets library to ensure seamless multiplayer integration
  • Define standards and development processes to guide future developers and maintain a high-quality codebase
  • Deliver regular dev builds for evaluation and testing


Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of professional software development experience, with at least 3-5 years in game development
  • Proficiency in C# and familiarity with various game development frameworks (such as MonoGame or alternatives)
  • Experience in developing multiplayer games and implementing basic networking concepts
  • Knowledge of shaders and experience with sprite-based animation and collision detection
