Role Summary The Senior Backend Engineer is a crucial position within Vingcard | ASSA ABLOY, primarily responsible for designing, developing and maintaining robust backend solutions that power our innovative access control systems for hotels and adjacent markets. The role demands a deep understanding of backend technologies, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Java, and Kotlin. The candidate will work in a dynamic, cross-functional team to deliver high-quality software that enhances the functionality and performance of our products. Job Location: Brasilia, Brazil KEY Responsibilities Design, develop and maintain backend applications using Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Java, and Kotlin. Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements using server-side logic. Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code. Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle, from design to deployment. Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize backend systems. Ensure high performance and responsiveness of the application. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current backend technologies and best practices. Participate in code reviews, providing feedback and suggestions for improvement. Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior developers, helping them navigate technical challenges and grow in their careers. Ensure adherence to best practices in software engineering, including code quality, testing, and documentation. Experience with observability technologies (e.g. Datadog). Experience with Git versioning systems. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. 6+ years of professional experience in backend development. Proven experience with Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, and Spring MVC. Familiarity with Git versioning systems. Languages Proficiency in English for listening, reading and writing. Intermediate speaking skills in English. Proficiency in Brazilian Portuguese. Computer Skills Proficiency in software development tools, version control systems (e.g., Git), and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines. Proficiency in Java/Kotlin. Deep knowledge of Spring MVC and/or Spring Boot. Proficiency in interacting with relational databases. Working knowledge of distributed architectures and messaging systems (Rabbit MQ, AMQP, etc). Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Kubernetes, etc). Experience Software Engineer, Backend Engineer or similar position. Minimum 6 years of experience. The role will play a key part in enhancing the functionality of our access control solutions, delivering high-quality software that meets the needs of our customers and stays ahead of industry trends, including launching new products. Vingcard Athos Team The Vingcard Athos team, based in Brasília, Brazil, specializes in developing innovative solutions for the Build-to-Rent market, catering to both long and short-term rentals of furnished apartments. As a small and dynamic team, we manage the entire solution, including Io T devices, backend, frontend, and mobile applications. We operate on a hybrid work model, with three days in the office and two days working from home. While our primary language of communication is Portuguese, all our code and documentation are in English, and meetings involving other teams are conducted in English.
