Howard University is seeking a Contract Specialist to manage the operational procedures and processes associated with contractual arrangements/agreements for goods and services procured by the institution. This role involves primary responsibility for ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies, as well as maintaining confidentiality and protecting sensitive data at all times.
The successful candidate will coordinate work with various departments and serve as a liaison between Howard University and vendors to oversee the intake, review, and finalization of all contracts that bind the institution.
Maintaining University Contracts and systems to ensure timely renegotiation and consistency of language/terms in order to provide maximum legal coverage is also a key aspect of this position.
The ideal candidate will possess strong project and relationship management skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relations with staff, officials, and the general public.
Skill Requirements
Possess a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field of study
Have 5 to 8 years experience in an academic, healthcare environment or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and training
Be experienced with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFAR)
Possession of a Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM), Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM), a Certified Research Administrator, or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification is preferred
