Job Description

As an Employment Tax Specialist, you will be the first point of contact for client inquiries related to employment tax. Over time, you will develop into a Subject Matter Expert, guiding clients through complex tax matters, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and identifying opportunities for tax savings and operational improvements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to align Employment Tax practices with broader business strategies and objectives.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Provide expert advice to external tax, payroll, finance, and HR teams on the tax and social security implications of employment.
  • Guide clients on employer reporting and withholding obligations.
  • Advise on the tax and social security treatment of employer-provided compensation and benefits.
  • Offer compliance and planning advice for delivering employee compensation and benefits.
  • Conduct "health checks" or pre-audit reviews and assist with post-audit remediation projects.
  • Prepare fringe benefit tax returns or equivalent agreements, including related data analysis.
  • Advise on contingent worker populations, focusing on controls, processes, and governance.
  • Stay updated on evolving tax laws and regulations, providing timely updates to clients.
  • Proactively manage client accounts, identify opportunities for growth, and maintain regular communication.
  • At senior levels, develop and implement comprehensive employment tax strategies, lead projects, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 3–5 years in employment tax, payroll tax, or related advisory services.
  • Preferred Experience: Working with multinational clients and cross-functional teams.
  • Certification(s) Required: Professional tax qualifications (e.g., CPA, CTA, or equivalent) preferred but not mandatory.
