The role offers an opportunity for a technologist passionate about Linux and Cloud technologies to advance their career with Canonical, contributing to the success of Ubuntu and open source projects. The BootStack team designs and operates modern distributed systems on private infrastructure, working with technologies like Kubernetes and OpenStack.

Location: This is a globally remote role.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing a growing engineering team to optimize development and operations quality and velocity
  • Measuring and improving team health indicators
  • Implementing disciplined engineering and operational processes
  • Representing the team with stakeholders, customers, and external groups
  • Focusing the team on priorities, milestones, and deliverables
  • Ensuring service level agreements are met for global customer deployments
  • Delivering quality managed services consistently and timely

Candidate requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technology field or equivalent
  • Proven experience in software delivery (Python, Go, C, C++, Java, or similar) and/or managing operations teams
  • Experience with OpenStack and Linux system administration (Ubuntu/Debian preferred)
  • Strong testing and code quality commitment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and managing distributed teams
  • Technical understanding of complex distributed systems
  • Knowledge of cloud topologies and technologies
  • Willingness to travel (~20%) for team and customer meetings
