We are seeking a Metallurgy Engineer to join our team, reporting to the Production Manager. The role involves coordinating metallurgical processes related to the manufacturing of copper conductors, including energy, automotive, and elevator cables. The focus is on operational excellence (volume output, OEE, material efficiency, OVC, labor efficiency, machine breakdowns, wire ruptures), product quality, process development, and continuous improvement, aligned with Prysmian's global standards in safety, sustainability, and innovation.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor the quality of received materials (Prysmian and third parties).
  2. Guide metallurgical operators on services, machine operations, and proper raw material use to meet production goals.
  3. Prepare reports on metallurgical activities, production data, and operational statistics.
  4. Manage Human Resources, maintain organizational climate, and conduct performance evaluations and feedback.
  5. Ensure execution of Production Plans and compliance with Manufacturing Sheets, making adjustments as needed.
  6. Ensure HSE tasks are carried out correctly and in compliance with legislation.
  7. Coordinate copper and aluminum drawing processes, including tool maintenance, quality control, and physicochemical property monitoring.
  8. Lead continuous improvement projects in metallurgical efficiency, loss reduction, and quality.
  9. Ensure processes comply with standards and customer requirements.
  10. Supervise technical team development and promote safety culture.
  11. Support development of new products and metallurgical solutions with R&D.
  12. Conduct failure analyses, testing, and monitoring of trials.
  13. Collaborate with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams.
  14. Control KPIs and propose corrective actions.
  15. Support plant supervisory team during absences or vacations.

Who are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's in Metallurgical or Materials Engineering.
  • Intermediate/advanced English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge in metal drawing, conductor properties, heat treatment, metallography.
  • Understanding of manufacturing practices, quality, and process control.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, SAP (a plus), standards interpretation (ABNT, ASTM, IEC).
  • Experience in industrial metallurgical processes, preferably in cable or metallurgy industries.
  • Leadership and team coordination experience.
