Job Description

The Construction engineer in HV and electrical substations is an HV Substations Electrical Engineer specialized in the design and construction of high/medium voltage electrical substations who will ensure that the work of the substation and high/medium voltage lines construction are carried out according to Country Electrical Regulations as well as covering all requirements. He will oversee verifying that all EHS procedures required in the mentioned construction are fully complied with. This is a 100% construction on site role.

Executive Summary

The process, managed by the Construction HV Substations Electrical Engineer, is to help simplify Substation and Transmission lines work and maintain the overall schedule. The Construction HV Substations Electrical Engineer will work with the project cost management team to help the Project Manager and DCD PM management and control all cost-related issues encountered during the construction phase. The Construction HV Substations Electrical Engineer works directly for the DCD Program Manager and in coordination with Consultant Construction Manager.

• Conduct preliminary surveys of the site of Substation and Electric Lines construction
• Ensure that all formalities such as permits and clearances are obtained from Government Electrical Regulator entities
• Ensure that all electrical permits and electrical Government requirements are accomplished where applicable
• Ensure that Substation GC keeps project documentation in order and within the appropriate repository
• Take part in the Substation project planning and provide inputs regarding implementation
• Ensure that Substation construction activity progresses as per schedule
• Ensure that work MOPs for Electrical Substation and HVTL construction are implemented and followed as required
• Report to the DCD PM and Consultant Construction Manager regularly with updates on the Substation construction work
• Coordinate with DC construction coordinators to ensure alignment between DC construction and Substation construction
• Communicate with Substation GC subcontractors to ensure project progress
• Manage Substation designers, architects, and suppliers to ensure construction is on schedule and meets quality requirements
• Oversee the process of electrical Substation turnover to CFE
• Act as Quality Control Supervisor for Substation and transmission Lines
• Interact with Energy Team, A/E designer and DCE Team as required
• Represent as owner of the contract where applicable
• Oversee construction and installation activities to deliver electrical infrastructure and related civil works on time
• Supervise the connection of the TL/SUB to the Datacenter facilities and coordinate commissioning
• Interact with AHJ or any entity involved in releasing RoW and trajectories as required

• Degrees and/or professional licenses in Electrical Engineering
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in Portuguese and English

• 3+ years of experience in Substation and electrical transmission lines standards and practices
• Ability to effectively communicate complex technical solutions to engineers
• Experience in Electrical Transmission, Distribution Government AHJ Codes and rules
• Construction Health & Safety knowledge
