In the database engineering department, you will participate in a migration from SQL Server, to PostgreSQL, maintaining the data integrity, and automating some processes.

In the database engineering department, you will participate in a migration from SQL Server, to PostgreSQL, maintaining the data integrity, and automating some processes.

Requirements

  • Over 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Extensive experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or other major RDBMS database systems.
  • Proven track record of maintaining, analyzing, and debugging production systems on major cloud platforms such as AWS.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Unix Shell, and Python.
  • Experience debugging and maintaining production systems on cloud platforms such as AWS.

Highly preferred candidates also have:
  • Expertise in automating database migrations, schema conversions, and data validation pipelines.
  • Proficiency in monitoring and supporting production services using observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Open Telemetry.
  • Expertise in using cloud platforms, particularly AWS and Kubernetes.

Job responsibilities
  • Support large-scale database migration efforts from Microsoft SQL Server to AWS Aurora PostgreSQL.
  • Support and maintain database systems during and after migration, ensuring high performance, security, scalability, and availability.
  • Collaborate closely with various teams across the organization to enhance performance, security, scalability, availability, reliability, and observability of relational databases.
  • Apply modern database management practices using DevOps principles, including CI/CD pipelines, automation tooling, and Infrastructure as Code for AWS-based data services.
  • Design and manage database schemas, implement monitoring solutions, and optimize SQL queries and database system performance.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose database issues, effectively communicating root causes and solutions.
  • Participate in incident response activities, ensuring quick and efficient resolution of database-related issues.
  • Standardize observability practices for database telemetry, logs, and events to reduce mean time to identify issues.
