The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Obtaining quality x-rays using correct position and radiation exposure;
  • Implementing safety procedures for patients, self, and staff to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation;
  • Creating and documenting x-ray CD copies correctly according to Patient First guidelines. Labeling images and sleeves correctly when making these copies;
  • Understanding the x-ray and processing equipment to ensure proper use;
  • Using and understanding the bell system;
  • Filing and maintaining all x-ray paperwork;
  • Ensuring patient safety when using wheelchairs, stools, and other equipment;
  • Understanding and using the Daily Log, X-Ray Listing, Copy Listing, and X-Ray Status Screen;
  • Understanding and using the automated medical records system;
  • Cleaning work area and biological cleanup following OSHA guidelines, along with other maintenance tasks as directed;
  • Receiving, moving, and restocking supplies;
  • Adhering to Patient First policies and procedures;
  • Responding to physician and nurse requests promptly and respectfully;
  • Completing checklists for the x-ray and treatment areas;
  • Attending scheduled training classes and staff meetings;
  • Being available as needed, with breaks and mealtimes subject to interruption for patient care and center operations;
  • Operating, using, and maintaining medical and office equipment as trained.

Minimum education and professional requirements include:

  • At least 18 years of age;
  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Keyboarding experience;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • One year of clerical experience (preferred);
  • One year of clinical experience (preferred);
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
