About the Team

DoorDash is building the world's most reliable on-demand logistics engine for delivery. We're seeking experienced engineers to join our growing team and help develop a 24x7, global infrastructure system that powers our marketplace of consumers, merchants, and dashers.

About the Role

Our software engineers operate at the intersection of product and infrastructure, solving key business problems with elegant technical solutions. You will manage our backend services and architecture supporting all product functionalities, considering the big picture and collaborating cross-functionally to maximize business impact.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain large-scale web applications
  • Define backend architecture and select appropriate technologies for a product area
  • Enhance performance, reliability, scalability, and security of backend systems
  • Participate in transitioning monolithic codebases to microservice architectures
  • Address technical challenges in logistics with innovative solutions
Qualifications
  • B.S., M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or related field
  • 8+ years of industry experience
  • Experience with backend technologies
  • Skills in analyzing and improving system efficiency, scalability, and stability
  • Knowledge of service-oriented architecture, REST APIs, unit testing, and system design
  • Understanding of modern web stack and architecture (HTTP, REST)
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., Postgres, Redis, Kafka, Spark, S3)
Nice to Haves
  • Experience building large-scale, real-time applications
  • Proficiency in Java/Kotlin
  • Contributions to open source projects
