Full-time seasonal (fixed term) position available at an equine practice, north of Melbourne.

This hospital and intensive care facility provide a 24/7 intensive care service supported by skilled specialists, veterinarians and a dedicated nursing team.

This Head Hospital/ICU Nurse position is seasonal, starting in July 2023 until January 2024, with the possibility of ongoing work after this period.

Skills and experience required for the role:

- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or higher qualification
- Experience in medicine, critical and intensive care
- Developing skills in others
- Prioritise and work effectively within a team
- Composed and approachable

In this role, you will oversee the daily coordination of the ICU hospital alongside two Internal Medicine Specialists to lead the nursing and support team throughout the season. This role includes training and cultivating of junior nurses in hospital to follow protocols while maintaining a high level of patient care.

You will work closely with other departments within the hospital and foster internal working relationships. There is a well-managed after-hours requirement.

This hospital facility enables the team to provide an intensive care service for neonatal foals, which are often recumbent and require intensive nursing, including intravenous fluid therapy, intra-nasal oxygen, enteral and parenteral nutrition and blood pressure monitoring. The team also provide hospital care for older foals and adult patients, which require nursing care, intravenous fluid therapy, and regular medical treatment such as wound management and challenging eye cases.

The full-service, purpose-built equine hospital is located in a pretty, peaceful town with a fantastic community spirit in Victoria.
