**Where You Fit In?**

This position is an opportunity to be involved with the high-profile Deepwater Brazil portfolio which contributes significant production, reserves, and free cash flow globally to Shell. You will be responsible for the subsurface technical work of your team of technical subsurface staff, you will ensure the deployment of your staff to work in natural teams in close coordination with the Exploration BOMs and contribute technically where required. The incumbent will be part of the Leadership Team of the Brazil One Subsurface Team (OSS) supporting Exploration & Development projects.

The scope of this role involves leading a team with a focus on Growth opportunities generation (Play concept generation, lead identification, bid round, and portfolio build and ranking). The Team Lead will report to the One Subsurface Team (OSS) line in Rio de Janeiro and will work closely together with the Exploration and Development Deepwater line of business with staff across multiple locations - London, Rio, and Houston.

**What is the Role?**

As a One Subsurface Technical Lead, you will be:

- Responsible for Line Management & formal career development of Play Fundamentals and PBE (Play Based Exploration) Team.
- Member of Prioritization forum to advise availability and capability for the allocation of individual staff to natural teams.
- Responsible for the minimum required technical quality product.
- Responsible for translating functional improvement plans into team development actions.
- Responsible for technical safety (meet minimum standard - DCAF)
- Responsible for technical coaching of team members and ensuring that staff deployment decisions take development goals into account.
- Key member of Venture LT in the UPX Line of Business.
- Be responsible to encourage an open dialogue such that challenges & issues are raised through the opportunity line of sight.
- A credible individual contributor where appropriate and required who consistently demonstrate high performance, can open up opportunities to broaden beyond the short term.

Specifically, as Team Lead Play Fundamentals and PBE, you will:

- Manage a team of 6-7 subsurface direct reports deployed into one or more natural teams to undertake Play Fundamentals and PBE activities.

Your team’s focus is expected to be more on opportunity generation. The team contains a balance of geophysicists and geologists.

**What We Need from You**

Exploration Geoscientist with substantial subsurface evaluation/exploration experience, a delivery track record, and proven HSSE/NTR experience.

Experience and Qualifications required:

- Must have legal authorization to work in Brazil on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
- Must have a Bachelor’s in Geology or Geophysicist. Degree. A Master’s/PhD Degree is an added advantage.
- A subsurface professional with a minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience in subsurface evaluation/exploration experience.
- Solid experience in regional evaluation, play to prospect scale interpretation, and risk & volumetric evaluation.
- The ability to integrate effectively with both multiple disciplines and the broader business is essential.
- Strong focus on solving problems and providing effective solutions to the business whilst managing multiple projects.
- Track record of stakeholder management, change management, and cultural awareness.
- Demonstrated team working, networking, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent written and spoken Portuguese & English is essential. Well-developed reporting and presentation skills are helpful.
