**Position Title**: OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

**Primary purpose of the position**:
**Description**:
The Occupational Therapist role provides clinical support to the OT team and to the broader Allied Health team across a breadth of clinical areas including:

- Rehab Unit
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Surgical ward
- Medical ward
- Maternity ward and special care nursery
- Emergency Department

Whilst primarily based in the inpatient context, the Clinician may also be required to support community and outpatient programs.

Major public healthcare provider within the Bass Coast Shire in South Gippsland. The service has provided quality service and care for residents of the Bass Coast Shire for over 100 years. It is an integrated Health Service providing Emergency services as well as Acute Medical and Surgical, Sub-acute and Residential inpatient beds along with an extensive array of Community and Primary care services. Services are provided also from a number of other sites including Wonthaggi, San Remo and Cowes.

**Position Summary**:

- To deliver quality, cost effective and efficient Occupational Therapy services to clients
- To improve health outcomes through the provision of Occupational Therapy as part of a multi-disciplinary approach to health care services across multiple sites
- To provide supervision and support to Grade 1 Occupational Therapists and students

**MANDATORY**:

- Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, Master of Occupational Therapy or recognised equivalent
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Member of or eligibility for membership of OT Australia
- High quality assessment and treatment skills
- Entitlement to work within Australia
- A Police Check that is current and within 12 months of the issue date
- Provision of valid Working with Children Check
- Provision of an NDIS Worker Screening Check
- COVID-19 Vaccination and seasonal influenza vaccination of healthcare workers in accordance with Secretary, Department of Health Directions

**DESIRABLE**:

- Minimum 2 years’ experience as an Occupational Therapist with demonstrated clinical skills, knowledge and reasoning in assessment and intervention in an acute, rehabilitation and / or community setting
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience in teaching and supervising staff and / or students

Demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
- An understanding of the principles of continuous quality improvement and demonstrated skills and initiative in service development, evaluation, quality activities and / or research
- Demonstrated ability to impart knowledge to multi-disciplinary staff and to members of the community
- Demonstrated participation in Professional development
- Established skills in organisation, planning and priority setting
- Demonstrated computer skills
