Reporting to the SVP of Engineering, the **Engineering Director** will build, mentor, and manage a team consisting of individual contributors and one engineering manager. The Director will be hands-on and own the technical roadmap planning and execution in collaboration with the PAC Product Manager. In managing managers and individual contributors, hands-on coding and technical guidance are expected at about 25% in any given week through delegation of technical tasks is expected in most cases. The Engineering Director is committed to delivering high-quality results and working through challenges and obstacles, all while managing expectations with various stakeholders. They will also ensure that the organization has technical competence and strives for excellence and impact. The Engineering Director will also ask the right questions to ensure architecture matches the business needs and knows how to balance time-to-market needs with long-term sustainability. The Engineering Director develops and deploys strategies for building a high-velocity, high-performance development organization that delivers high-quality software. The Engineering Director supports technical innovation and collaborates in creating, continually refining, and actively enforcing our development standards to ensure our technology can be leveraged as a sustainable competitive advantage
**What You'll Do**
- **First Week**: You will work closely with an onboarding mentor to complete the standard engineering onboarding process and learn to ship new code to production to understand the end-to-end tech stack and software development lifecycle.
- **First Month**: You will be up and running with your standard managerial practices and processes, learn the ins and outs of Quorum's PAC products, technical strategy, roadmap, and challenges, and get to know the members of your team, product managers and other leaders on the technology team.
- **First Six Months**: You will fully own the planning and execution of the PAC team and technical roadmap and milestones. You will mentor and coach existing team members to improve their skills and help bring on new team members into the organization. You will lead the engineering team in building the most innovative PAC management solution on the market while facilitating a smooth migration of PAC Classic customers to the new platform.
- **First Year**: Your team will have successfully completed the key milestones for the new PAC product such that Quorum can sell to Federal and State filers and completed a significant number of customer migrations. The PAC Classic maintenance should be managed mainly by the Cybage team with mínimal involvement from the Quorum team.

**About You**
- You have 10+ years of relevant experience, including five years as an Engineering Manager or Director.
- You have 5+ years planning, building, and operating complex products at a B2C or B2B technology company.
- You have experience data modeling in relational & non-relational databases, data quality, data integration, search, data visualization, and performance tuning.
- You have expertise in Quorum's front-end and backend technologies, including Python, React (or similar Javascript framework), PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, AWS, and Linux. Django would be a plus.
- You have experience with cloud-native architectures.
- You have excellent communication skills, including good English.
- You have strong project management skills.
- You have experience with US-based companies and hybrid teams.
- You have experience with compliance, tax, payroll, or regulatory software is a plus.
- This position requires approximately 25% hands-on development time.
