Equine Internship

Are you a keen and enthusiastic individual who seeks to make equine practice the focus of your career?

A practice in regional Victoria has an exciting opportunity for a new or recent graduate veterinarian to commence a 12-month equine internship in 2023.

New graduates as well as vets with some experience in mixed animal or first opinion equine practice are encouraged to apply.

This is a large practice with a surgical and medical facility, as well as a reproduction centre. The successful applicant will work with vets of varying levels of experience, including registered specialists.

This role will include:

- Intensive neonatal care
- Anaesthesia
- Post-operative monitoring of surgical cases.

The hours will vary depending on the time of year:

- 1st March to 31st July - 38 hours per week between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm, Monday to Friday.
- 1st August to 29th February (stud season) - hours will be longer and variable.

On Call Requirement:

- Hospital-based work weeknights: a maximum of one night in two, shared equally amongst the interns.
- Hospital-based work weekends: a maximum of one in two weekends from 6 pm Friday to 8 am Monday, shared equally amongst the interns.

Salary to be discussed, including a mobile phone and a vehicle for work use.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible to register with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of Victoria.
