We are searching the best talent for a Medical Science Liaison I to be in São Paulo or Porto Alegre, Brazil.
**Purpose**:
Medical science liaisons (MSL) act as conduits of information about new research developments, clinical trial activities and therapeutic approaches. The job involves cultivating and maintaining relationships with academic researchers and leaders, attending conferences and talks, presenting information to pharmaceutical product teams and marketing new therapeutic products to physicians and other healthcare professionals. Medical science liaisons work intensively with people at every step of the therapeutic product development process and translate dense, academic information into engaging, persuasive messages.
The role of MSL is to be a therapeutic area scientific expert, responsible for proactively or reactively discussing our products, treatment trends incl. unmet medical needs, scientific insights, studies, and actions with Leading Specialists (LS).
The MSL provides fair, balanced, objective, scientific information, and education to health care professionals on a peer-to-peer basis and to internal partners, as required by scientific and business needs. The MSL executes activities described in the country specific MAF plan.
Through strategic and key stakeholder engagement, the MSL builds and maintains external relationships with leading specialists and represents the primary MAF contact. In addition, MSLs captures and logs external medical insights and use these insights to inform the medical affairs - and CVT strategy. The MSL role has a predominantly external/field focus with up to 80% external customer interaction time.
**Essential Duties**:
- Continuously update own and customer’s knowledge of products, patient’s treatment trends, clinical activities and studies, local healthcare environment;
- Identify evolving scientific concepts with future clinical implications;
- Through scientific interactions, gain valuable insights into treatment patterns and scientific activities and collaborate effectively with MAF team and CVT to share insights with the MAF team;
- Collaborate with sales force and other field-based roles (respond to queries, share insights and TA knowledge);
- Contribute to medical training and provide scientific support for field-based roles.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences / Health Sciences, General Medicine/ Internal Medicine, preference for postgraduates (M.Sc and PhD);
- Skills/expertise in the topics: Oncology or Hematology will be considered differential;
- Expertise or experience in the pharmaceutical industry or in clinical practice will be highly appreciated;
- Deep understanding of the local health system with demonstrable credibility with KOL’s and other key clinicians/health experts;
- Experience in understanding and interpreting clinical trial and statistical analysis with the ability to deliver clear and compelling insight to senior medical groups;
- Strong scientific / clinical understanding;
- Good written and oral communications skills;
- Excellent inter-personal skills with a high level of knowledge & sensitivity relative to the needs of patients, health care providers and payers;
- Ability to develop/maintain an effective professional network and develop partnerships and strategic collaborations;
- Strong planning and organization skills. Demonstrated work ethic and integrity;
- A passion for influencing peers, customers and colleagues through compelling scientific and patient insight;
- Excellent communicator and an inspirational presenter, providing training to sales and marketing teams. Ability to listen and learn.
